Project Outputs

We released the first issue of the Future Culture Newspaper in December, 2016. In addition to the print versions in English and Spanish distributed across Staten Island, the newspapers are available online in Bengali, Sinhala, Tamil, and Urdu. Stayed tuned for the upcoming issues.

On March 28, 2017, we unveiled a preliminary set of design and policy recommendations outlining strategies to realize a more more livable and connected North Shore. This meeting kicked off the first of a series of stakeholder feedback sessions to be held this spring.

Project Activities

In October 2016, Staten Island Arts hosted the Future Culture Open House. Shortly after, an intensive six-week Working Group convened, bringing together a diverse team of community members to document the cultural landscape, identify needs and opportunities.

On March 28, 2017, we held a public forum at Staten Island Arts to discuss a preliminary set of design and policy recommendations that the Working Group developed outlining strategies for neighborhood revitalization, sustainability, and equitable economic development for Staten Island’s rapidly growing North Shore.
